What We Do

Environmental Justice for Disadvantaged Communities

Ujima is dedicated to including disadvantaged communities in the conversations and actions being taken to protect our environment from the effects of climate change. We work with local governments and policy experts to design and implement clean energy policies. In addition, we work directly with the community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through providing access to the following:

  • Transportation electrification

  • Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure

  • Community Solar projects

AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES

Ujima Housing Corporation was originally founded for the purpose of providing housing for lower income families and families displaced from urban renewal areas, or as a result of governmental action, where no adequate housing exists for such groups. To that end, and in response to the growing number of homeless people in Los Angeles County due to the dwindling availability of affordable housing, we continue to follow our founders’ vision of providing housing placement and/or assistance to qualifying individuals. Such housing may also include facilities for the elderly, handicapped, and mentally ill.
